Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • ¾ cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 4 Egg yolks

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until pale and thick.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the milk and cream until just simmering.
  3. Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  7. Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  8. Transfer the gelato to a container and freeze until firm.
