Ingredients 

  • 1 lb dried split peas
  • 1 ham bone or diced ham
  • 1 cup chopped carrots
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions 

  1. 1. Rinse the split peas under cold water.
  2. 2. Add all ingredients to the Instant Pot.
  3. 3. Close the lid and set the valve to sealing. Cook on high pressure for 15 minutes.
  4. 4. Allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick release any remaining pressure.
  5. 5. Remove the ham bone, if used, and chop any meat. Return the meat to the pot.
  6. 6. Stir the soup and serve hot.
