Ingredients 

Chicken and Broth

  • 1 whole Chicken cut into pieces
  • 8 cups Water
  • 2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ¼ cup Butter melted

Instructions 

  1. Place the chicken in a large pot and cover with water. Add salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until chicken is cooked through, about 30 minutes.
  2. Remove chicken from the pot and let cool. Shred the meat and discard the bones.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until a dough forms.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of dough into the simmering broth. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes, until dumplings are cooked through.
  5. Return shredded chicken to the pot and heat through. Serve hot.
